tesa is one of the largest manufacturers of adhesive products in the world. With more than 125 years of experience, tesa really is at the top of their industry. In order to keep it this way, tesa was in search for a way to enrich, consolidate and analyse their data about the end market, their market share and product positioning, but also to identify their competition and market potential in an easy, orderly way.
tesa contacted Wirelab for the creation of a custom market analysis tool that could analyse their distribution activity. With this tool, tesa's sales team had to collect qualitative and quantitative data during their visit to distributors. This data was enriched with sales data directly from tesa and other sources. There was a need for a tool that made it possible to analyse all of these inputs and provide valuable insights that help tesa to better serve the market. A nice challenge for our development team.
The art of development
Enthusiastically, our development heroes rolled up their sleeves to get started with the inventory phase. In three months’ time, during which we tagged tesa along in the development process of their custom digital solution, our developers built a rock-solid market analysis tool, based on swift feedback from the client. A technical feat that handles large amounts of data with ease and presents it clearly.
A puzzle of data
The back-end has been developed on Laravel. With this framework we can set up a fast, secure and robust back-end. The frontend has been developed on Vue. The extensive possibilities for internationalization and the use of reactive, data-driven programming in the framework make Vue ideally suited for creating the dynamic experience that tesa envisioned. The application is available in thirteen countries, including various languages and currencies.
The data from sales visits and the original tesa data are merged and converted into a powerful analysis tool where, using diagrams, tables and filters, connection between the data can be discovered. tesa uses these insights for the development of new products, the better positioning of existing products and the more focused management of its sales organization.
The application contains a lot of sensitive information. That's why it was important that, from the first moment onward, we worked in a security-minded manner. For example, advanced logging systems have been applied, we have created a roles and rights structure and the application is hosted within tesa's own network. The tool was built to portray data coming from tesa's own internal systems. For this purpose, we have built integrations with Microsoft Dynamics and SAP.

The final market analysis tool is used by various users within tesa. That is why multiple roles had to be created. From tesa management and country managers to product owners and sales employees: a different role has been created for each type of user, all with their own rights within the web app.
